Bellville's Werner Theart captured his second Bellville Open in three years when he held off Michael Sherriff by a stroke.
The morning lead was taken by defending champion Altin van der Merwe with a 1 under par 71. The scores were surprisingly high in perfect morning conditions.
The afternoon saw the wind stiffen but Theart took control thanks to his mastery of the par fives where he made 2 birdies and an eagle. In the end he scored a 68 to post a total of 3 under par total of 141. Van der Merwe's challenge faltered when he hit his tee shot at the 3rd out of bounds and this left Sherriff as the person who could catch Theart. He got to 2 under par but failed to birdie either of his final two holes to end up 1 short of Theart's target.
Bellville players took the top 4 places in the field of 100 players.
At the conclusion of the tournament, the WP B Team was also announced.
