Sean Bradley (Royal Cape) fired an afternoon round 6-under-par 66 to top the leaderboard with a 8-under-par, total 136, at the Strand PAT Open held on Sunday.
Lying one shot behind the morning leader, Terence Countinho, Bradley opened his afternoon round with birdies one the first and third holes, ironically the same holes he bogeyed in the morning. With four more birdies in his round, he was four shots clear and signed for a gross 66.
With a slender one shot lead from the morning, Countinho cancelled out two birdies with bogeys in his opening holes and was lying two shots behind at the turn but wasn’t able to mount a charge on the leader. Countinho finished with a score of 4-under-par, total 140.
Michael Sherriff, the winner at Kuils River, was third on 3-under-par total 141, with Luke Trocado further behind on 1-under-par total 143.
Not able to take advantage of his home course, Elmo Barnard was only one of three players to break par in the afternoon, however, a 4-over-par morning round put him out of contention.
Defending champion, Ian Snyman was also in the field. Snyman carded a total 142 to finish fourth.
The next PAT event will be held at Erinvale Golf Estate on Sunday, 7th August 2016.
