A return to the winners circle for Bellville’s Gerlou Roux at the Clovelly Open on Sunday.
Still fresh from his victory at the Mid-Am IPT in Rustenburg Roux turned round a four shot deficit to win by two shots from Milnerton’s Paul Colditz.
Colditz opened his account with with 6 birdies and an egale on the par 5 10th and carded a five-under-par 67; with his putter turning cold in the afternoon he was unable to hold onto his lead and posted a one-over-par 73 to finish in the runner-up position.
A play-off was looming as by the 16th hole both players were tied at four- under-par. Colditz then dropped shots on both the 16th and 18th holes which proved his undoing, and Roux with finished his round with two birdies to secure the victory.
Strand junior, Deon Germishuys, posted rounds of 70 & 71 total 141 (-3) to finish in third position and one shot ahead of Bellville’s Michael Sherriff.
With only four events left on the Premier Amateur Tour, Sherriff sits on top of the points table with Elmo Barnard and Altin van der Merwe as his nearest challengers. Should Sherriff continue with his run of form he will be hard to beat at the PAT Finals.
