Luca bags another title

The 102 players that participated in the GRINDROD WP Boys & Girls Championship at Somerset West  Golf Club on Sunday 1st May were fortunate to play in ideal windless conditions and on a golf course that was in superb condition.

The four divisions, namely A, B, C and under 13 were all keenly contested.

The under 13 division was won by Cameron Gray (Westlake) with a gross score of 79 (47 points) closely followed by Jack Lee (Westlake) on 81. The B division saw Jaden Philander (KD Mowbray) streaking away from the rest of the field with a gross 76 followed by Mikail Munga (KD Mowbray) on 81. An eagle, birdie start to the last 9 of the afternoon second round spread-eagled the field with Luca completing the final 18 with a 70 and a two round total of 143.  14 year old Luke Pienaar finishing 2nd on 145 and 13 year old Sam Simpson (Bellville) 3rd on 146.

Luca was even more devastating the next round – beating Jason Hale 6&5 – being 7 under par at the completion of the match.
