Premier League Round 3

When it came to the crunch, defending champions Westlake showed they had what it takes as they played their best golf when it mattered most. They are now in pole position to defend their title when the league concludes next week at Royal Cape.

The main game of the day saw Westlake take on a strong Milnerton side. The foursomes were tied and through 9 in the singles Milnerton looked on top. The first 3 singles were lopsided and saw Milnerton lead but then Paul Bezuidenhout and Brent Kirstein both birdied their final hole (9th) to win 1 up and give Westlake a 4.5-3.5 lead. The final match also came down the final hole all square with the Luca Filippi and Elton James facing birdie putts. Filippi sunk a 30 foot putt before James remained cool and slotted his putt to give his team a 5-4 win.

Bellville won both their matches comfortably to stay in touch and keep the pressure on Westlake.

In the Reserve League Strand took control after KDM suffered an unexpected loss to Parow, giving Parow their first win in over 2 years.
