The 2nd edition of the Western Province Golf Union Primary Schools Golf League took place on Tuesday, the 26th April. A total of 11 teams participated in ideal golfing conditions at the Old Mutual Golf Club (mashie course) in Pinelands.
A total of 44 players participated with the team event won by the South African Golf Development (SAGDB) River Club chapter A side on 137 stableford points followed by Reddam Prep, a distant 10 shots behind. The SAGDB (River Club) B side finished 3rd (125) with Durbanville Primary (121) 4th. The individual winner on the day was Jack Lee (Reddam Prep) on 52 points, recording a gross 56 on the mashie course, with Robin Visagie (SAGDB) 2nd on 47 points.
The format of the day was medal stableford (off scratch) with the best 3 of the 4 scores counting in the team event. The scoring was 4 points for a birdie, 3 points for a par, 2 points for a 1 over and a point for a 2 over.
The last primary schools event was played at the same venue and the course again was in superb condition.
The next WPGU Primary Schools Golf League fixture will take place towards the end of May.
