2023 JUNIOR INTERCLUB TEAM CHALLENGE

KD Mowbray A wins Junior Team Challenge

19th February 2023 – In a repeat of their triumph from last year, KD Mowbray A won the WP Junior Interclub Team Challenge at Kuils River Golf Club by a comfortable 7 shots. The course was in good condition, weather conditions were golf friendly, but a tricky breeze “kept the players on their toes”!

The clubs that represent WP Golf were well represented with over 100 juniors participating. The format on the day was U19 teams of 4 – 3 best medal rounds counting towards the team total whilst the U13s were teams of 2 with both scores counting.

The counting scores of the KD Mowbray team were Paul Reidenbach (73), Gabriel Firer (73), Adam Johnston (75), and a non-counting 82 by Sebastian Dorward – this saw KD Mowbray A being crowned deserved winners. In 2nd place Durbanville gave a good account of themselves with a fine team effort led by Josh Daniels on a 73. The other counting scores were Henru Walters (77) and Seth Johannes (79).

In the U19 division the top individual honour went to Bjorn Nord (Milnerton) with a level par 72, closely followed with 73s by Gabriel Firer (KD Mowbray A), Paul Reidenbach (KD Mowbray A) and Josh Daniels (Durbanville).

The top 3 U19 teams were –

  1. KD Mowbray A      222
  2. Durbanville            229
  3. Steenberg             230

In the under 13 division Royal Cape were runaway winners – by a distant 10 strokes. The team of Traigh Pathon (77) and Luke Jacobs (81) were far too strong. In the individual stakes Traigh Pathon (Royal Cape) recorded a 77 with Evan Marais (Clovelly) a 78.
