2023 PAROW OPEN

Located in an idyllic setting with a breath-taking view of Table Mountain, Parow Golf Club welcomed enthusiastic amateur golfers from all over the Western Cape to compete in the first Premier Amateur Tour of 2023. This year’s Parow Open featured 64 players competing in harsh, windy, and warm conditions.

Players were treated to some well-deserved cold beverages following a grueling battle in challenging conditions.

The Club Captain, Alex Abel, opened the prize giving with a warm welcome. He expressed his gratitude to all competitors as well as those who contributed to the success of the 2023 PAT.

We would like to acknowledge Parow Golf Club for their contribution to the success of the tournament. Additionally, we would like to thank Coca-Cola Peninsula Beverages for providing water and Powerade to keep the players hydrated, and Subtropico for providing bananas.

Open Division

Jungwi Lee (Royal Cape Golf Club) won this year’s Parow Open with an outstanding 66 (-6), four shots ahead of the nearest competitor. After a quick start to the day, Jungwi Lee birdied four of the first six holes and finished the first nine holes at -5 under par. His second nine included two more birdies, but the difficult par four eleventh hole ended with a bogey.

Shaun le Roux (Westlake Golf Club) placed in second place with a score of 2 under par for the day for a round of 70. He had a tough start to his round, finishing the first nine two over par. However, he immediately jumped back on the second nine with birdies at the 10th and 11th holes. Aside from dropping a shot on the 15th, Shaun finished his round with three birdies on his final three holes, capping his second nine at four under par.
