The opening tournament saw a robust turnout of 31 players, all eager to make their mark in the first round of the season. The competition was fierce, showcasing exceptional talent from various clubs. Notable players included Brian Daniels from Strand and Ivor Hartzenberg from Durbanville, who brought their A-game to the course.

Brian Daniels made an impressive start, scoring 22 points in the first nine holes. His performance set a high bar for the other competitors. However, the competition heated up as Eugene Scharneck from Strand displayed remarkable resilience on the back nine, scoring 20 points to finish the day with 38 points, temporarily placing him in the lead.

Despite Scharneck’s strong finish, it was Brian Daniels who ultimately emerged victorious. With a stellar performance, Daniels secured 41 points, clinching a three-shot victory over his fellow Strand members.
