The Somerset West Junior Championship was played in excellent conditions, with the course in great shape and primed for low scoring.

Nicolas van der Vyver confirmed his status as one of the top junior talents, firing a superb 6-under-par 66 to win the overall championship. His round included seven birdies and just a single bogey, giving him a comfortable five-shot victory. Chasing him, a strong group of players – Zach Potgieter, Nicholas Thompson, Andries van der Vyver, and Baldo Padovano – all finished tied on scores of 1-under-par 71.

In the U/15 division, Keaton Filander claimed victory by the narrowest of margins. His steady round of 73 edged out Luke Jacobs by one shot, after Jacobs signed for a 74.

The U/13 division saw a dominant performance from Alwyn Rossouw, who posted a solid 1-over-par 73 to win his category by four strokes.

A special highlight of the day came from Luke Potgieter, who achieved the rare feat of a hole-in-one on the par-3 15th hole – a memorable moment for the young golfer.
