KESHA LOUW CLAIMS HER THIRD ACKERMAN CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE

Strand Golf Club hosted the prestigious 45th Ackerman Championship. 52 amateurs tackled the windy conditions. Players showed their resilience by not giving up and adjusting to the uncontrollable wind making the course longer than what it seemed.
The Bronze Division, competing for the Jonathan Ackerman Trophy, Theunisia Swart, Strand GC local was counted in first place on 75 points ahead of Mia Wyngaard, from King David Mowbray. Louise Olivier, Devonvale, placed third on 67 points.

The Raymond Ackerman Trophy (Silver Division) welcomed Cleo Delport, from Somerset West, to the winner’s circle where she kept her lead of 4 shots ahead of second place Aminah Hendricks from Atlantic Beach Links. Phakdee Musseleck, Somerset West, took third place ahead of Melinda Norris, Kuilsrivier.
The Championship Division saw previous Champions Bobbi Brown (2024) and Kesha Louw (2022, 2023) looking to add their names to the trophy again. Kesha Louw closed out round 1 with the only under par score of 70, giving her a 6 shot lead ahead of previous Champion Bobbi Brown, 76. Day 2 Round 2 morning wind showed the players that they are up for a very tough day, with Louw carding a 77 and Brown signing off a score of 80 increasing the gap to a 9-shot lead after Round 2.
Both Louw and Brown kept the fighting spirit into Round 3 both improving their second-round scores by two shots each, but it was not enough for Brown to catch up to the gap that Louw set up for herself.

Kesha Louw reclaimed her crown as the Ackerman Champion with scores of 70, 77, 75, Bobbi Brown placed second followed by Zayaan Hendricks in third place.
