PIETIE LOUBSER CLAIMS KING DAVID MOWBRAY OPEN TITLE!
A perfect summer morning greeted 63 golfers as they set off on their 36-hole campaign to lift the King David Mowbray Open Trophy. Conditions were ideal for scoring, with a gentle early breeze accompanying the 7am start.
Round 1 Highlights:
Pietie Loubser (Westlake) opened his round with a birdie that set the tone for a superb morning performance. His six birdies and a single bogey secured the outright lead after 18 holes. Hot on his heels was Benjamin Schaffer (Steenberg), who recorded an impressive eight birdies but signed for a 68, trailing Pietie by just one shot. David Thompson (Clovelly) also carded a 68 to complete the top three heading into the afternoon.
In the Women’s Division, Ashley Huysamen (Durbanville) and Zayaan Hendricks (Atlantic Beach) both posted solid opening rounds of 79, with Odette Booysen (Westlake) close behind after an 81.
Round 2 Action:
As the midday wind picked up, conditions became more testing, demanding accuracy off the tee and precision with approach shots. Pietie continued his excellent form, once again starting with a birdie to maintain momentum. Despite a strong challenge from Benjamin, Pietie’s composed final round of 70 sealed victory by one shot, earning him the King David Mowbray Open Champion title.

Zayaan Hendricks showed her class once again, claiming her third win of the 2025 season, finishing two shots ahead of Ashley in the Women’s Division.

Highlight of the Day:
A special mention goes to Craig Poulton, who produced the perfect golf shot—an ace on the 4th hole during Round 1!
