Andries VdVyver

The 2025 Royal Cape Open fielded a total of 74 players. The course looked to be in great shape, and so did the playing field for the day despite this the wind at Royal Cape never holds back on making this course tougher than what it is.

Andries (Strand) took the lead after round one carding a 69, 3 shots ahead of Cole Cruickshank (Royal Cape) and Andrew Georgiou (Erinvale) who were keeping a close eye on scores of even par 72.

As players started gearing up for their second round, the wind showed no sign of slowing down increasing and creating a tough round 2 than what was showcased for round 1.

Andries did not back down despite starting the round with a bogey on the first he immediately came back with a birdie on the second following the par train, Andries gave us one big drive on the 9th with only 30m to the pin, looking for a second eagle on that hole. He kept his head for the rest of the round and managed another under par round of 71 (-1).

Andrew and Cole were trying to keep up. Cole’s double on 16 costed him, unable to make another birdie to get to Andrew’s 71 (-1) Cole signed off and even par 72 for round two.

Andries finished 3 shots ahead of Andrew, and Cole came in a close third place with two rounds on level par.
