The 2026 Somerset West Open proved to be an exciting day of golf, with players facing changing conditions throughout the 36-hole event. The day started with a slight cool breeze, but as the players settled into their rounds, the wind picked up and became a significant factor. Somerset West Golf Course was presented in beautiful condition, but the course proved that it was not going to give up its challenges easily.

  

The Men’s Division delivered a thrilling finish, with Cole Cruickshank (Royal Cape) and Shaun Le Roux (Milnerton) both finishing the 36 holes on 5-under-par 139, forcing a playoff to decide the champion.

The playoff went down to the wire, with the players halving the first three playoff holes — the 1st, 18th and 18th again. On the fourth playoff hole, Cruickshank proved to be the steadier of the two, making par while Le Roux missed his par putt. Cruickshank secured the championship in dramatic fashion, claiming the Somerset West Open title.

Ian Truter (Somerset West) finished in third place after a superb second-round 69 moved him to level par for the tournament, following an opening-round 75. Andrew Georgiou (Erinvale) was counted into fourth place, ahead of the 2025 Somerset West Open champion, Evan Marais, who finished fifth.

In the Women’s Division, Odette Booysen (Westlake) produced two solid rounds in the 70s to claim the title with a two-round total of 153.

Five shots behind, Zoey Rhoda (King David Mowbray) secured second place after rounds of 82 and 76, finishing strongly in the second round.
