ANDREW GEORGIOU WINS THE 2025 METROPOLITAN OPEN!
The 2025 Metropolitan Open welcomed a field of 56 players, all of whom were met with ideal scoring conditions that set the tone for a highly competitive and memorable championship. From the outset, the quality of play was exceptional, with several Players showcasing outstanding form across both the morning and afternoon sessions.
The opening round immediately delivered excitement. Andrew Georgiou (Erinvale) set an early benchmark with a superb 65 (-5), demonstrating exceptional control and consistency throughout his round. He was soon joined at the top of the leaderboard by Nicholas Schrieder (Westlake) who carded a 65 (-5). Not far behind, Pietie Loubser (Westlake) posted a strong 67, while Cole Cruickshank (Royal Cape) followed closely with a well-crafted 68, keeping himself firmly in contention heading into the afternoon round.
As play resumed, the afternoon session introduced a new wave of momentum. Cole Cruickshank produced a brilliant 65 (-5) to momentarily reclaim the outright lead, showcasing his resilience and ability to adapt as course conditions evolved. Schreider responded with a steady 67, maintaining pressure at the top of the leaderboard and positioning himself well. However, the final statement of the championship belonged to Andrew Georgiou, who elevated his performance even further with a 64 (-6), the lowest round of the day and securing the 2025 Metropolitan Open title by three strokes.
The Women’s Division
In the opening round, Odette Booysen (Westlake) posted a solid 72, immediately sharing the clubhouse lead with Kaitlyn Van Der Vyver (Royal Cape), who also carded a 72. The second-round saw Ashley Huysamen surge ahead, firing a 73 on her final 18 holes to take the lead, while van Der Vyver steadied the field with a 74. In the end Odette Booysen carded another strong 74, edging out Van Der Vyver by a single stroke to claim the women’s championship.
