ANDRIES CLINCHES THE STRAND OPEN TROPHY!

Players faced challenging windy conditions at Strand Golf Club, but Andries van der Vyver rose to the occasion. Both Andries and his brother, Nicolas van der Vyver, opened the tournament with a one-over par 73, while Philip Taberer posted a 75, leaving him two shots behind heading into the second round.
Henru Walters (Durbanville) stood out on day one, being one of only two players to break par, finishing with a one-under par 71 in round 2, a testament to his resilience in tough conditions.
Round 2 saw Jurie Groenewald and Nicolas van der Vyver both post level par 72s, taking the clubhouse lead.
However, Andries, who had a home course advantage, maintained his focus and capitalized on his course knowledge. With six birdies and 12 pars, he posted an impressive six-under-par 66, finishing the second round at -5 overall.
Andries van der Vyver sealed the title by a commanding six shots.
In the Women’s Division, Cendra Caroll (Durbanville) clinched victory with rounds of 88 and 81, edging out Vicki Traut (Erinvale) in a countout, as Vicki posted rounds of 85 and 84.
