BOBBI BROWN HOLDS OFF THE DEFENDING CHAMPION TO CLAIM THE ACKERMAN CHAMPIONSHIP!

Ackerman Championship was held at Clovelly Country Club for the 44th time. This year, 76 amateur golfers took to the fairways for a showdown between some of the country’s best.
The south easter had its teeth out on both days, resulting in extremely challenging playing conditions. The players had to navigate a tight course and avoid lurking penalty areas and out-of-bounds that were ready to snag anything that crossed their path.
The Bronze Division, competing for the Jonathan Ackerman Trophy, was dominated by Clovelly Country Club members. The stableford event was won by Frances Payne on 70 points by one shot over Beverley Roberts. To round out the Clovelly dominance, Noeleen Burton placed third.
The Raymond Ackerman Trophy (Silver Division) is always hotly contested by up-and-coming junior players. Kaitlyn Rix from Durbanville led from the start and continued her recent form to claim the trophy by 2 shots over Anelda Smith from Westake. Ana-Maria Firer and Gabrielle Dolan from King David Mowbray rounded out the top 4.
Everything was on the line in the Championship Division. The tournament favorite, Kesha Louw, was seeking a hat-trick after winning the title in 2022 and 2023.
Casey Twidale led the defending champ by two shots after Round 1. Twindale shot 71 (-1). The weather conditions on Sunday morning were challenging, and par was considered a satisfactory score. Casey fell off the pace and Gia Raad from Johannesburg Country Club took the lead by one over Kaiyuree Moodley and Bobbi Brown after round 2.
In 2023, Bobbi lost to Kesha in a play-off and is seeking redemption in the final round. Kaiyuree missed a putt on the 54th hole to force a playoff, and Bobbi was crowned champ.
