BOSTON FRANKS TAMES ERINVALE
The Erinvale Junior Championships were held on Sunday, 15 September. The scenic backdrop of the Hottentots Mountain Range, sunny weather, and pristine course conditions contributed to a memorable tournament.
Boston Franks and Ghery Rabie were the standouts. Ghery Rabie set the target at -4 (68), including 5 birdies and one bogey. Ultimately, it wasn’t enough to secure victory. Boston Franks, starting on the back nine, got off to an excellent start with 2 birdies on his first two holes. A bogey on the 12th hole halted his momentum, but his back-to-back birdies on holes 17 and 18 put him back on track. Traigh Pathon secured the Under-15 title with a 74, carding 37 on both front and back nine. His round featured four bogeys and two birdies. Pathon won by one shot over Christopher Gelderblom.
Christian Swanepoel topped the U/13 division with a 75, 9 strokes better than his closest competitor. The front nine included a bogey and a birdie, followed by seven pars for a 36. The back nine was a mix of highs and lows, with two bogeys, one double bogey, and a lone birdie on the 11th. However, he regained his composure to finish with a 39, concluding his campaign with a 75.
