CAMERON JOHNSTON COUNTED INTO ERINVALE SENIOR SERIES WINNER
On Friday, 14 August, Erinvale Golf Club hosted the Senior Men & Women Open, with players facing a challenging forecast of winds exceeding 30 km/h. However, as the day unfolded, the wind appeared to settle, allowing players to take on the course in more favourable conditions.
In the Men’s Senior Division, Cameron Johnston (King David Mowbray) claimed the title after being counted in on the back nine with a level-par 36. Greg Woodbridge (Atlantic Beach) finished second after being counted out, with Riaan Lewis (Milnerton) taking third place.
Craig Poulton (King David Mowbray) also produced an impressive performance, finishing in the top five of the Senior Division with a two-over-par 74. His score was enough to secure the Super Senior title. Henry Trevena (Royal Cape) finished second in the Super Senior Division with a score of 77, three shots behind Poulton.
In the Women’s Division, Erinvale’s own Taillefert De Wet claimed first place, proving that the conditions were no match for her as she took the win on home soil.
The Stableford Divisions also produced some strong performances, with Joseph Rhode (Atlantis) claiming the Men’s title with 38 points. In the Women’s Division, Pearl Mbeje (Stellenbosch) secured the win with 28 points.
We would like to thank our sponsors, Barnards Barnyard and Coca-Cola Peninsula Beverages, for their continued support of the event and their contribution to making the day a success.
