CAMERON JOHNSTON WINS THE METROPOLITAN SENIOR SERIES

The 2025 Metropolitan Senior Series unfolded under picture-perfect skies at one of Cape Town’s premier golf venues, with beautiful weather and ideal scoring conditions gifting players a true test of skill.

Cameron Johnston (KD Mowbray) stormed out of the blocks, taking the early lead with a scintillating 2-under-par 33 on the first 9 holes. Hot on his heels were Weyers Janse van Rensburg (Milnerton) and Andre Van Dyk (Langebaan), posting impressive 1-under-par 34’s to trail closely. Just a whisper back were Brian Mampies (Royal Cape) and Jean Kotze (Bellville), both steady with level-par 35’s for the opening stretch.

The battle intensified in the closing 9 holes of the Metropolitan Senior Series. Brian Mampies and Jean Kotze displayed admirable consistency, both notching 35’s on the back nine to share the clubhouse lead on 70. Meanwhile, Weyers Janse van Rensburg kept his composure, carding a closing 35 to finish strongly on 69.

In calm closing sequence, Cameron Johnston secured pars on his final 5 holes – enough to clinch the title by two strokes 67 (3-under-par). As the sun dipped over Table Mountain, Cameron Johnston stood tall – a testament to skill and composure under perfect playing conditions and stellar golf, and senior camaraderie made for a memorable tournament day.

Super Seniors Winner:

Brian Mampies (Royal Cape) emerged victorious in the Super Seniors Gross Division, carding a 70 to win by three strokes.
