The 2022 WPG Women’s Amateur Championship was held at Westlake Golf Club from Sunday, 27 March 2022 – Tuesday, 29 March 2022.

The Golf Course was in great conditions, with the greens running true and fast. The weather was superb on the first two days with little to no wind but Westlake showed its true colours on Tuesday morning with persisting rain and wind on the final day of the match play.

Sunday evening we saw a 8 hole play off between Gabrielle Venter (Bloemfontein), and Megan Streicher, (Swellendam), after both finishing their 36 hole stroke play on one under par. In the end it was Gabrielle Venter who had the honour of lifting the Edith Bowie Trophy.

Ame Van Der Merwe (Zwartkop) won the Silver division, HI 6.6 – 15.3, on a gross of 166 with runner-up Kim Albertus (Atlantic Beach Links) on a gross of 176.

The Bronze division played 18 hole Stroke Play on Monday morning. It was amazing to see the top 3 winners in the gross all being Westlake members. Crowned our 2022 Bronze division Stroke Play winner was Jane Wollaston on a gross of 93, runner up, Gail Thane on 94 and finishing in third place, Liz Usher on 95.

The match play started on Monday morning for the Championship, Flight and Silver divisions with the Bronze players joining in the afternoon. The finals for all three divisions took place on Tuesday morning.

Flight and Silver division match play finals were dormie after 18 and saw Olivia Wood vs Erica Chen play an extra 6 holes before Olivia Wood (Umhlali) beat Erica Chen (Durbanville) and in the Silver division Kim Albertus (Atlantic Beach Links) vs Christan Booysen (Royal Cape) went on to play an extra 3 holes until Kim Albertus beat Christan Booysen
