Henru Walters cruises to victory at the KD Mowbray Junior Championship.

The KD MOWBRAY Junior Championship – 10 January 2023

14-year-old Henru Walters fired a five-under 67 to beat Matthew Lotz (Milnerton) by two shots. Gabriel Firer (KD Mowbray) finished 3rd on 70, repeating last year’s effort. Henru’s round consisted of seven birdies, including four in a five-hole stretch from the 10th to the 14th. Henru’s performance was truly impressive. The highlight of Matthew Lotz’s round was an eagle at the par 5 6th, however three bogeys on the first nine hurt his chances – a fine and determined effort of 4 under 32 over the final nine holes proved otherwise. Seven players shot level par or better on the day, demonstrating a course that was in great condition complemented by excellent weather conditions.

The B division was won by Cole Williams (KD Mowbray) with a gross score of 81, the C division by Kiash Naidoio (Clovelly) with 39 points, and the U13A division by Alex Frankel (Devonvale) with a gross score of 73, while Kazio de Leeuw (Atlantis) won with 42 individual points.
