Atlantic Beach Links celebrated Wilkinson Greensomes’ 50th anniversary. This exciting format was extended to men for the first time since the tournament began.

A total of 44 pairs (12 male pairs) participated. A favorable weather pattern prevailed throughout the tournament, and players were treated to pristine fairways, immaculate greens, and a breathtaking backdrop of Table Mountain. The pin locations were meticulously selected to encourage low scoring and birdie opportunities.

After all 88 players had recorded their scores, excitement built among them as they speculated on who would win the 2024 Wilkinson Greensomes Trophy. Erica Lefson & Linda Venter (Rondebosch) carded a 65 net to claim the title by one shot over Tessa Granger & Morag Magnussen from Westlake.

In the women’s gross division, Beverley Button (Metropolitan) & Atlantic Beach member, Candice Woodbridge, scored an impressive 76 to secure the gross prize by 3 shots.

The highly anticipated men’s section saw the net prize awarded to Flip Niemandt and Dewald Niemandt from Atlantic Beach. They won with 67.

Local knowledge must have been the theme of the day as Nigel Pillay & Weyers Janse van Rensburg claimed the top spot in the men’s gross. They clinched the title posting a 71 score.
