Runner-up to Francois le Roux at the Boland Senior Championships on Friday, WP top senior player, Brian Mampies (Rondebosch) is joint leader after Round 1 at the WP Senior Masters at Strand Golf Club.

After an indifferent start dropping two shots, Mampies bounced back with four birdies to finish on 2-under-par and shares top spot with George Bezuidenhout. Marcus Manig, Steve Williams and Jonathan Bernard are a further shot behind.
