Murray Boast wins at Royal Cape

Sunday 30th August – After some heavy rain during the week the 2nd event in the 4th edition of the Bridge Fund Managers Junior Series (BFMJS) took place at a wet Royal Cape Golf Club. Notwithstanding the rain the course was in good condition with the usual immaculate putting surfaces.

Royal Cape Golf Club, a course steeped in history, was established in 1885, 135 years ago, has held 10 South African Opens and is the home of the annual Cape Town Open.

17 year old Milnerton Golf Club member, Murray Boast, recorded an excellent 4 under par 68 to comfortably win by 3 shots. Murray started with a drop shot at the 1st hole but compensated with 3 birdies to turn in 34. Murray’s only blemish coming home was a drop at the long dog-leg par 4 14th hole. A final 9 of 34 saw him home.

By winning the Royal Cape leg Murray has qualified for the regional South finals of the BFMJS, where he will be playing for the opportunity to compete at Pinehurst in July 2021.

The Bridge Fund Managers Junior Series launched in 2017, is managed by the SA Golf Development Board and endorsed by GolfRSA. Open to boys and girls in the U13 and U19 divisions, it is played across 18 tournaments at leading courses countrywide.
