NICHOLAS SCHRIEDER OFF TO A GREAT START IN 2025

The 2025 season got underway with a thrilling event at Kuilsrivier Golf Club on Friday, 3 January, as players prepared for what promises to be a busy year of junior golf.

Nicholas Schrieder wasted no time in asserting himself as the player to beat, delivering a flawless performance that saw him climb the leaderboard.

Schrieder made his intentions clear from the very beginning, with a fantastic start to his round. He birdied the 3rd and 4th holes, setting the tone for his front nine of 34. His back nine was equally impressive, as he carded a steady 36 that included one bogey and one birdie. His final score of 70 earned him the victory by a single stroke, outpacing four competitors who finished just one shot behind.

Evan Marias was the standout player in the U/15 division. He made 6 birdies, 3 bogeys, and 1 double bogey, ultimately finishing with a 1-under par 71. His dominant performance earned him a 4-shot victory in the division, highlighting his potential for the season ahead.

Meanwhile, in the U/13 division, it was Nicholas Jansen van Rensburg who emerged victorious with a solid round of 76. Jansen van Rensburg made a steady comeback after a challenging front nine, which included 3 bogeys for a score of 39. He then regained his composure on the back nine, with 3 more bogeys and 2 birdies to sign for a 37, securing a 4-shot victory in his division.

The opening tournament of 2025 at Kuilsrivier set a high standard, with impressive performances across all divisions and promising starts for the players as they look ahead to the rest of the season.
