Travis Procter wins at Bellville

After coming tantalizingly close to winning in 4 previous Bridge Fund Managers Junior Series (BFMJS) Tour events, Travis Procter (Durbanville GC), secured a hard fought 2 shot victory at the BFMJS Tour/Aspire Atlantic event held at Bellville Golf Club. The initial ideal golfing conditions turned somewhat blustery and this made the course play fairly difficult. This was the 13th event in the current edition of the 2020/21 BFMJS Tour around the country

Travis was level par after the first 9, a somewhat up and down 9 because it included 4 birdies, but a steady 1 under par 35 for the final 9 was good enough to win. Travis’s round included 6 birdies.

Jack Buchanan (Milnerton GC) was runner-up – besides his 2 previous BFMJS Tour wins this was Jack’s 4th runner-up spot. Sebastian Dorward (KD Mowbray GC) played splendid golf but a triple drop at the par 5 15th was his undoing. Sebastian finished in a tie for 3rd with Jack Brugman (Strand GC) who has shown some recent good form – both players had scores of 74.

By winning the Bellville leg Travis Procter has qualified for the regional South finals (April 2021) of the BFMJS, where he will be playing for the opportunity to compete at Pinehurst in July 2021.

The Bridge Fund Managers Junior Series launched in 2017, is managed by the SA Golf Development Board and endorsed by GolfRSA. Open to boys and girls in the U13 and U19 divisions, it is played across 18 tournaments at leading courses countrywide.

The B division was won by Caleb Kiego (Kuils River GC) on a count-out from Adam Johnston (KD Mowbray GC) – both players on 85. The Under 13As was won by Henru Walters (Durbanville GC) with a fine gross 74. Henru played consistent golf throughout with 2 birdies and 4 drop shots.

The C division was close with Jean-Guido Tobias (Somerset West GC) winning on a count-out with 32 points whilst Isabella Heber (KD Mowbray GC) was a runaway winner in the U13Bs on a fabulous 46 points.
