The 2025 Western Province Close Championship was a showcase of exceptional golf, with 41 talented players competing under beautiful conditions. Round one saw Adrian Ford (Durbanville) set the pace with a stellar 4-under-par 68, taking the clubhouse lead after the first 18 holes. He was closely followed by Matthew Lotz (AB Links) with a 3-under-par 69 and Chris Strydom (AB Links) and Dan Copeman (Westlake) both carding 2-under-par 70s.

The afternoon round was marked by fierce competition, with six players managing to go under par. The leaderboard was topped by three players who finished with a total score of 3-under-par, setting up an exciting conclusion. Nicholas Schreider (Westlake) shot a 69(-3) in round two, while Chris Strydom carded a 71(-1) and Shaun Le Roux fired a 69(-3), forcing a thrilling three-way playoff.

In the playoff, all three players demonstrated their nerves of steel, making par on the first hole. The drama continued into the second playoff hole, but unfortunately, fading light forced us to conclude the tournament prematurely. In a fair and sportsmanlike decision, the title was shared between Shaun Le Roux, Chris Strydom, and Nicholas Schreider.

Congratulations to all three winners.
