The 2024 season kicked off on a high as we welcomed 73 players to the first Premier Amateur Tour event – the Milnerton Open. Conditions were favorable and some low scores were surely on the cards.

The field consisted of both male and female golfers vying for a fast start to the season. After the first round, Wesley du Plessis (Milnerton) fired an impressive opening round of 66 (-6) to take the lead by 2 shots over Cameron Johnston (Milnerton).

In the afternoon, a south-westerly wind picked up and made it tough for players to attack from behind. Wesley struggled to hold onto the lead as Shaun le Roux (Westlake) made 5 birdies in 7 holes to take the early lead in round 2. 

This would be enough to take top spot and claim the title by 3 shots over Wesley du Plessis.

The women’s section was also highly contested as Stephanie Kiefer (Germany) shot a level par 72 in the first round to take the lead. In round 2, Clovelly Country Club’s, Isabella Williams, put up a remarkable fight as she shot a career low score of 70 in challenging conditions. It would however be Stephanie who kept the top spot. A round of 77 would see her win by 3 shots over Isabella.
