The 2025 Western Province Mid-Amateur Championships got underway at the picturesque Milnerton Golf Club.

The stage was set for a thrilling competition.

Round 1 – Shaun Le Roux (Westlake) set the tone early, firing off an impressive 65 (-7) to take the early lead. Hot on his heels was Weyers Janse Van Rensburg (Milnerton), who carded a 67 (-5), leaving the chasing pack to ponder their chances. Geno Belfiore (Milnerton) and David Thompson (Clovelly) both settled for 69s (-3), nipping at the heels of the leaders. Seven players going under-par in Round One, setting the bar high for the rest of the field.

As the competition transitioned into Round Two, the intensity ratcheted up, and the battle for the title began in earnest. Wesley Du Plessis (Milnerton) staged a solid comeback, surging to a four-under 68 that left him two under for the championship. Meanwhile, Cameron Johnston (KD Mowbray) mounted a strong challenge, firing a magnificent 66 (-6) to take the clubhouse lead and sending shockwaves through the leaderboard.

However, Shaun Le Roux (Westlake) proved unstoppable. With another under par round 67 (-5), he sealed his dominance over the competition, finishing on 12 under par. Defending his title. Shaun’s performance was a masterclass in consistency and skill.
