16th July – The scenic Clovelly Country Club hosted the 3rd Clovelly Junior Winter Series event for the 2023 season – played in somewhat windy conditions but under blue skies.

The Clovelly Junior Winter Series was a club initiative, which started in 2018, to promote competitive golf amongst the Under 13 and Under 15 age groups.

This past Sunday, in the Under 15 age group, Troy Werner (Royal Cape) beat Booye Walters (Bellville) on a count-out, after both players finished regulation play on gross 79. A birdie 3 at the 18th hole helped to secure Troy his victory.

The Under 13 division saw Joel Neethling (Rondebosch) win by 2 shots after an 81, closely followed by Codi Ruiters (Kuils River) and Keaton Filander (Strand) – both recoding 83s.

The U15B division saw a runaway victory by Tyra Booyen (Rondebosch) on an impressive 43 Stableford points while in the U13B division 10-year-old Sergio Dowrie won on 36 points.

The final Clovelly Junior Winter Series event for 2023 will be played on the 27th of August.
