WIESE WINS THE PAROW OPEN IN A THRILLING 7 HOLE PLAYOFF!
A crisp autumn morning welcomed the competitors as they teed off at the 36-Hole Stroke Play Parow Open.
Optimal conditions provided ample birdie opportunities in the morning session, as pins were easily accessible.
In the opening round, Oliver Scriven (Pearl Valley) led by one stroke over Jano Stone (Durbanville) and Joshua Wiese (Atlantic Beach). In the women’s division, Odette Booysen (Westlake) equalled Oliver’s score of 2 under par.
The second round saw the wind intensify, testing the players’ precision with their tee and approach shots.
Zach Miller (Westlake) took an early lead with a 69, claiming the clubhouse lead. Idrees Saban, also from Westlake, carded a commendable 70, moving him into a prominent position.
Joshua Wiese maintained his steady performance from Round 1, posting another 71 to progress to the playoff against Idrees. The playoff was a nail-biter, with the deadlock persisting until the 7th playoff hole, where Joshua Wiese emerged victorious.
In the men’s Stableford competition, Dale Barker (Atlantic Beach) accumulated 67 points, edging out Noor Badrudeen (Royal Cape) by a single point.
Odette Booysen, determined to keep her lead from the first round, navigated the afternoon winds to clinch a 6-shot win over Zayaan Hendricks (Atlantic Beach).
Kaitlyn Rix (Durbanville), champion of the King David Mowbray Open Stableford section, captured the Parow Open.
