Williams blows field away at Ackerman Championships
The field was left challenging for second spot as Kaylah Williams fired a final round six-under-par 66 to lift the Gus Ackerman trophy at the Ackerman Championships at Clovelly Country Club on Sunday.
Williams carded rounds of 72-72-66 (210) to win by seven shots from Ekurhuleni’s Nadia van der Westhuizen (217). Gauteng’s Samantha Whateley, Kaiyuree Moodley, and defending champion Vicki Traut all finished on 218.
Bellville’s Leontine Petit was a clear winner (163) in the Raymond Ackerman Division. Petit won by 11 shots from Somerset West’s Megan O’Grady (174), Tanja Jabobsen (174) and Rondebosch’s Christan Booysen (174).
The competition was a little tighter in the Jonathan Ackerman Division, Somerset West’s Kelly Dorrington(186) edged out Clovelly’s Jacky White (187) by one shot.
