The annual U/15 Matchplay Invitational brought together the country’s most talented U/15 golfers for a highly competitive and spirited tournament, played across three premier Western Cape venues — Paarl Golf Club, Pearl Valley, and Devonvale Golf & Wine Estate. The trio of host courses offered a mix of challenges — from the lush fairways of Paarl, the immaculate layout of Pearl Valley, to the tactical shot-making demands of Devonvale.

This year’s edition showcased not only the depth of junior golf talent in the province but also the exceptional skill, teamwork, and composure of Western Province Team 1, who emerged as undefeated champions.

WP Team 1 delivered a dominant performance across the tournament, winning 6 out of 7 matches and halving the remaining one, to finish unbeaten. The team displayed outstanding synergy, strategic matchplay acumen, and a fighting spirit that set them apart from the competition. Their overall margin of victory left no doubt as to the deserving champions of the event.

A standout among standouts, Keaton Filander was the clear individual star of the tournament. Demonstrating remarkable consistency, mental toughness, and golfing prowess, Keaton secured a perfect 7 out of 7 points for the team, a feat that underscored his critical role in WP Team 1’s success.

All teams competed in the true spirit of the game, and the event was marked by camaraderie, respect, and youthful enthusiasm.
