ZAYAAN HENDRICKS – WP NOMADS JUNIOR GIRLS CHAMPION

The 2025 WP NOMADS Junior Girls Championship at Somerset West Golf Club saw some exciting and competitive golf across all divisions, with a blend of exceptional performances and dramatic turns.
In the Championship Division, it was Zayaan Hendricks from Atlantic Beach who opened with a fantastic personal best of 68, taking a 3-shot lead over Amy Stanton from Eagle Canyon. With the conditions heating up, the greens firmed up, and the afternoon temperatures reached a scorching 30 degrees, the competition tightened. Zayaan’s steady play and determination saw her finish the tournament level par, securing the WP NOMADS Trophy. Despite Kaitlyn van de Vyver’s late surge with a 70 in the final round, Zayaan’s consistency throughout the competition kept her ahead.
Kaitlyn van de Vyver and Alessia Goussard, both of Royal Cape and Pearl Valley, respectively, posted respectable rounds of 73 on the second day, while Zayaan and Amy Stanton posted 74s. It was a tough battle on the course, especially as the conditions tested the players’ endurance.
In the Silver Division, the drama was palpable as Tyra Booysen from Rondebosch made a late charge with a superb 77 to jump up the leaderboard and secure 3rd place. Mia Brewer of Devonvale and Caitlen van Heerden from Sun Valley both posted rounds of 80, but it was Mia’s better back 9 that earned her the victory in the division. Tyra also took home the WGWP Trophy for the best gross 36 holes with her total of 163 and the Kleyn Cup for the best nett 36 holes with a 133.
In the Bronze Division, it was Somerset West’s own Cassidy-Kate Haupt who came out on top with an impressive 43 points in the Stableford format, clinching victory over Mia Wyngaard from King David Mowbray.
The Prentice Cup for best gross over 54 holes in the Championship Division went to Zayaan Hendricks with a total of 216. Meanwhile, Kaitlyn van de Vyver took home the Goldsbury & Stewart Trophy for the best gross 36 holes in the last two rounds with a score of 143.
